Embedded System Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Toulouse, France, with partial remote work and two remote days per week

Salary: €40,000–€55,000 gross per year

What you will do

• Design, document, implement, and maintain low-level controller software for autonomous platforms.
• Participate in algorithm and system architecture definition with technical experts and the product owner.
• Define component test plans and validate controller performance on test benches and in vehicles.
• Contribute to functional safety concepts, mechanical and electrical integration, and final platform integration.
• Support vehicle certification and homologation, technology selection, and automotive best practices.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in embedded systems development and/or Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Programming experience mainly with Structured Text, plus C, Python, and C++.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development methodologies.
• Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet communication protocols.
• Practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical integration and control/command applications.
• Basic familiarity with Unix/Linux and Git.
• Pragmatic, autonomous, proactive, collaborative, rigorous, methodical, and strong in problem-solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent English and French are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of robotic sensors such as LiDAR.
• Knowledge of CANopen Safety or J1939-76.
• Experience in an automotive environment.
