Software Engineer (Automotive C++)

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office and occasional international travel to hirify.global or customer sites

Annual gross base salary: lei 246,000–lei 360,800.

What you will do

• Implement and enhance positioning features in modern C++ for embedded Linux telematics systems.
• Translate customer, system, and technical requirements into testable designs and maintain UML diagrams and Component Design Documents.
• Estimate effort, impact, and cost; communicate trade-offs, risks, and blockers.
• Write unit-tested code, diagnose defects, and improve responsiveness, stability, and robustness across system components.
• Participate in planning, documentation, peer code and design reviews, and collaboration with platform, connectivity, and systems teams.
• Follow hirify.global processes, Automotive SPICE, and functional safety requirements while using AI tools to support delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
• 4+ years of professional C++ software development experience.
• Proficiency with UML, design patterns, and Linux-based systems.
• Hands-on experience building software for embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of inter-process communication and multithreaded programming.
• Ability to present status and technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, anticipate technical issues, and provide constructive feedback.
• Very good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with GNSS or positioning technologies.
• Familiarity with Automotive SPICE and MISRA.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and performance profiling on embedded Linux.
