Principal Engineer / Professor — Technical Expert (AI)

Location: Remote

Salary: $85–$185 per hour

What you will do

• Design challenging technical problems within an area of expertise using realistic constraints and supporting data.
• Provide accurate solutions with clear, step-by-step reasoning.
• Define objective evaluation criteria for consistent assessment of technical answers.
• Review problems created by other contributors for technical accuracy and sound methodology.
• Identify and flag ambiguous or ungradable problems.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
• Principal-, Staff-, or Fellow-level experience at a major engineering organization or national laboratory, or a faculty appointment at a leading university.
• Deep technical expertise in at least one relevant domain, with hands-on ownership of the work.
• Ability to explain technical solutions clearly enough for another expert to independently verify them.
• Strong analytical and technical communication skills.

Nice to have

• Publications, patents, or a proven record of technical leadership.
• Expertise across multiple areas, including aerospace, semiconductors, manufacturing, or materials science.
