Senior AI/ML Engineer

Location: Remote; candidates located in Europe, Ukraine

hirify.global is assembling an R&D team for an international nonprofit technology platform supporting health programs across multiple African countries.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and debug agentic AI workflows with multi-step reasoning, memory, tool use, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Architect and improve RAG pipelines, including chunking, retrieval quality, and end-to-end evaluation.
• Deploy and operate production LLM services while optimizing latency, throughput, reliability, and cloud costs.
• Develop traditional machine learning models for risk, fraud, and behavioural pattern detection.
• Build monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, scalable AI/ML architectures, and production-quality Python integrations.
• Process structured data with SQL, collaborate in an agile international team, document solutions, and own technical outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as an ML Engineer, AI Engineer, Data Scientist, Software Engineer, or similar, including a strong record of shipping production software.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-quality code.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with large-scale structured data.
• Production experience building and serving LLM-based, GenAI, or agentic systems for real users, beyond prototypes or PoCs.
• Experience designing and building RAG pipelines, including chunking strategies, retrieval design, and evaluation.
• Experience with agentic AI workflows involving multi-step reasoning, memory, tool integration, and orchestration.
• Strong foundation in traditional machine learning and expertise in at least one of tabular ML, classification, regression, ranking, NLP, or deep learning.
• Understanding of production AI/ML evaluation, monitoring, latency, throughput, scalability, reliability, cost optimization, and distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently, iterate quickly, take ownership of business outcomes, and communicate in excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, MCP, multi-agent systems, or equivalent agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience with LiteLLM, vLLM, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, or similar LLM deployment technologies.
• Experience with LangSmith, Evidently, RAGAS, or similar GenAI observability, evaluation, and drift detection tools.
• Strong AWS experience; MLOps automation, containerization, and CI/CD for ML systems.
• Domain experience in Risk, Fraud, Credit, Insurance, Cybersecurity, or FinTech.
• Experience mentoring engineers or contributing through blogging, public speaking, or knowledge sharing.
