Research Associate, Diagnostic Assay Development (Molecular Biology)

Location: Fully onsite in San Diego, California, United States

Annualized base salary: $48,500–$72,800; hourly role, bonus eligible.

What you will do

• Plan, execute, and analyze minimally complex experiments with supervisor input.
• Support development of a nucleic acid amplification test on an automated platform.
• Perform benchtop molecular biology laboratory tasks, including experiment support activities.
• Analyze and document experimental data in laboratory notebooks or reports.
• Summarize results and present data in group meetings while communicating with peers and supervisors.

Requirements

• B.A./B.S. in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with data analysis and interpretation using Excel or other technical software.
• Reliability, accountability, commitment to team objectives, effective prioritization, and timely project completion.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment, adapt to ambiguity and shifting priorities, and learn from mistakes and setbacks.

Nice to have

• M.S. in a relevant field.
• Familiarity with PCR, nucleic acid extraction, pipetting, solution preparation, and laboratory documentation.
