Physicist/Scientist, Doctorate Degree, New College Grad (Spring 2027)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; relocation eligible; travel required for 10% of the time.

Salary: $138,000–$190,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and apply advanced models for plasma etching, deposition, and plasma-based surface modification.
• Combine physics-based and machine-learning approaches to improve process understanding and predictive capability.
• Collaborate with experimental teams to guide process development and interpret experimental results.
• Develop, validate, and maintain internal software tools, modeling frameworks, and best practices.
• Communicate modeling results to multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and major customers.

Requirements

• PhD in Engineering, Science, or a related field is required, including Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.
• Experience modeling plasma–surface or gas–surface interaction processes using ab initio quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, and/or kinetic Monte Carlo methods.
• Strong machine-learning background, particularly in scientific computing or high-performance computing environments.
• Experience working with large, complex simulation datasets and integrating modeling results with experimental data.
• Position is intended for a new college graduate completing studies in Spring 2027.
