Engineer II, Component (Medical Devices)

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually, plus eligibility for up to a 10% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Support component decisions across cost, availability, reliability, manufacturability, and lifecycle considerations.
• Select, qualify, and evaluate alternate component sources based on electrical specifications, form, fit, function, reliability, availability, and lifecycle requirements.
• Review PCNs, EOL notices, and supplier changes; assess impacts and recommend risk mitigation.
• Create and maintain records for COTS and custom components, including inventory part numbers and specifications.
• Support sourcing, procurement, prototype builds, project schedules, and identification of critical or long-lead-time components.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of component engineering or related engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of electronic components, supply chain management, and product development processes.
• Experience reviewing and analyzing engineering BOMs.
• Familiarity with PCNs, EOL notifications, and obsolescence management.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting product development in medical device or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with market intelligence tools, component lifecycle databases, and sourcing risk assessment tools.
• Experience supporting prototype builds.
