Lead Site Reliability Engineer (AI)

Location: Detroit, MI; the position can be performed remotely but may require occasional trips to the office for team events, vendor meetings, or as needed.

What you will do

• Supervise, mentor, and develop cloud administrators and platform engineers while setting priorities and balancing operational work.
• Lead incident response, complex troubleshooting, escalation, and blameless post-incident reviews across the infrastructure stack.
• Own release management, automated rollouts, rollback processes, production readiness reviews, and reliability standards.
• Design, build, and operate large-scale fault-tolerant Kubernetes systems across public cloud providers, including capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning.
• Build CI/CD and GitOps workflows, infrastructure and configuration as code, observability, alerting, cloud hygiene, and FinOps practices.
• Help build and operate the AI platform and gateways, while automating operational work with Bash, Python, and AI tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar area; relevant experience may be considered instead of a degree.
• At least four years of experience in site reliability engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or Linux systems administration.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and at least one major public cloud provider: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Strong experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management, including Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based delivery, such as Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting and automation.
• Experience implementing metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, high availability, load balancing, and API gateways.
• Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate coding, research, and automation.

Nice to have

• Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising engineers.
• QSR experience.
• Experience building or operating an AI platform, including AI gateways, model access, and AI usage governance.
• Understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost management.
• Experience with more than one public cloud provider or with .NET/.NET Core applications.
• Relevant certifications such as CKA, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or FinOps Certified Practitioner.
