Assistant Accountant

Location: Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, with 1 day working from home

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum

hirify.global is recruiting for a finance role within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

What you will do

• Own and complete weekly and monthly payrolls, resolve payroll queries, and maintain accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare related general ledger journals and monthly headcount and people-related reports.
• Recharge group costs, perform balance-sheet reconciliations, and investigate variances.
• Assist with quarterly VAT returns and expenditure analysis for Corporation Tax reporting.
• Support monthly reporting and submission of results to the Group.
• Support annual stocktakes and internal and external audits.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar assistant accounting role, including more than transactional finance experience.
• Interest in and experience with payroll, which represents approximately half of the role.
• Experience with reconciliations, analysis, reporting, and month-end accounting.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills; an efficient, proactive, self-motivated, and highly organised approach with good attention to detail.

Nice to have

• AAT qualification and/or active study towards ACCA or CIMA.
