Data Engineer - Commercial BI (m/f/d)

Location: Munich, Germany; four office days per week from Monday to Thursday. Work-from-anywhere is available for up to four weeks per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain Commercial domain data products in dbt, integrating PIM, ERP, and pricing sources into consumer-ready marts.
• Model products, prices, suppliers, stock, and margins to ensure consistent commercial data across the company.
• Build semantic views and a semantic layer to make commercial data AI-ready and provide clear metric definitions.
• Define data contracts, ownership, and versioning so other domains can reliably use Commercial data.
• Ensure data quality and timeliness through dbt tests, freshness checks, monitoring, and clear SLAs.
• Establish analytics engineering practices including code review, CI/CD, modelling standards, and data mesh governance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt and excellent SQL skills; Snowflake experience is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of dimensional and Kimball modelling, layered architectures, data mesh principles, and semantic layers.
• Experience with orchestration such as Airflow or dbt Cloud jobs, Git, and CI/CD.
• Good Python skills.
• Product mindset, a can-do attitude, and comfort working at a fast pace.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt Cloud or dbt Mesh.
• Commercial data experience, including PIM, pricing, assortment, or supplier data.
• Experience preparing data for AI or LLM use cases.
