Principal Packaging Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Northridge, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $109,000–$185,000 per year for U.S. locations, excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations.

What you will do

• Manage medical device packaging for new product introduction and sustaining programs.
• Define packaging and labeling requirements and design packaging systems that meet stakeholder needs and ISO standards.
• Design, develop, and test packaging from sterile barriers and primary systems through pallet loads, considering protection, handling, environmental exposure, presentation, and production requirements.
• Coordinate documentation and GMP activities, support prototype-line development, and integrate packaging designs into semi-automated and fully automated manufacturing lines.
• Create design verification and validation plans and protocols for packaging integrity, strength, aseptic presentation, and related testing.
• Perform root cause analysis for test failures, develop technical rationales, improve designs, and mentor less-experienced professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Northridge, California, United States.
• Ability to perform essential office and manufacturing-related duties, including independent mobility, computer work, and communication with colleagues; reasonable accommodations are available.

Nice to have

• MedTech or regulated-industry experience.
• Six Sigma or Lean Sigma certification.
• Proficiency in statistical methods and software.
