Mechanical Engineering Manager (Spacecraft)

Location: Tukwila, WA; 2+ days in office. Must be a US Person and meet US ITAR eligibility requirements.

Salary: $175,000–$205,000 per year for candidates in Seattle, WA; ranges may vary by state or location.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 4–8 Mechanical Design Engineers and own technical and schedule performance.
• Establish and enforce spacecraft mechanical design processes, guidelines, modeling standards, configuration management, and release practices using Creo and Windchill.
• Develop professional growth plans, assign work, prioritize workloads, recruit and onboard engineers, and manage contract support.
• Design satellite structures, assemblies, mechanisms, components, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment from concept through production.
• Generate and maintain part drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, technical reports, and manufacturing documentation.
• Partner with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to support manufacturing, integration, testing, build issue resolution, nonconformance reviews, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• At least 2 years leading engineering teams as a people manager or technical lead with formal leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrable satellite or launch industry experience maturing designs from initial concepts to detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of space systems design requirements and experience delivering against challenging technical or schedule requirements.
• High proficiency with Creo CAD for part and assembly models and manufacturing drawings in a Windchill environment.
• Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Must be a US Person and eligible under applicable US ITAR requirements.

• Experience with spacecraft mechanisms.
• Experience with wire harness design.
