Lead AI Engineer

What you will do

• Manage and mentor a squad of 5–10 AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps specialists through 1-on-1s, performance reviews, career frameworks, and pair programming.
• Design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade LLM agents, autonomous and multi-agent workflows, RAG pipelines, and machine learning models on AWS and Azure.
• Advise client C-suite leaders, Chief AI Officers, and Engineering Leads while translating business challenges into technical blueprints, evaluation harnesses, and delivery roadmaps.
• Align business and IT stakeholders, explain technical decisions, and present AI ethics and explainability approaches to architecture review boards and risk committees.
• Build banking-grade security and MLOps capabilities, including zero-trust AI frameworks, prompt-injection defenses, PII masking, and automated CI/CD pipelines compliant with UAE PDPL and Central Bank rules.

Requirements

• 3+ years of formal line-management experience directly managing, coaching, and developing engineers, data scientists, or technical specialists.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Physics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, and AI platform development, including substantial team leadership in top-tier technology or management consultancies.
• Advanced Python skills and hands-on experience implementing autonomous AI agents, tool calling, state management, and multi-agent workflows.
• Exceptional emotional intelligence, active listening, interpersonal awareness, and the ability to build client trust and lead teams empathetically.
• Experience taking complex AI/ML systems from experimental notebooks into secure, high-concurrency production cloud environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning using LoRA or QLoRA, quantization, and serving open-weight LLMs with vLLM, Ollama, or TGI.
• Experience building and deploying AI models in financial services, banking, or capital markets.
• Experience with enterprise procurement, client dynamics, and regulatory frameworks in the UAE or wider GCC region.
