Lead Software Developer (UI Tech Lead) (React)

Location: Letterkenny, Ireland; hybrid work with work from home up to 2 days per week depending on team needs. Flex-Location allows up to 30 days per year working from any location in the world.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and delivery of responsive customer-facing interfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Define Micro-Frontend architecture, reusable components, UI patterns and engineering standards.
• Perform hands-on solution design, coding, code reviews, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Architecture, Engineering and backend teams to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Contribute to cloud-native design, security, observability, performance, automated testing, CI/CD and secure development.
• Apply AI-assisted development practices and support AI-powered capabilities, including RAG and agentic AI where appropriate; mentor developers and drive technical improvements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience in a senior or technical leadership role.
• Strong hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Experience designing modern frontend architecture, reusable component-based applications and Micro-Frontend architectures.
• Strong understanding of state management, testing, performance, accessibility and responsive design.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience building and delivering cloud-native applications.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, secure software engineering and AI-assisted development tools and techniques.
• Strong technical leadership skills, including guiding engineering decisions, mentoring developers and collaborating across disciplines.

Nice to have

• Good knowledge of Java and Spring Boot or experience working closely with Java/Spring engineering teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure managed services, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, containers and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience developing or integrating AI-powered customer features; knowledge of RAG, vector search, grounding and agentic AI integration patterns.
• Understanding of AI security, evaluation, observability and responsible AI practices.
• Experience modernising large-scale or legacy enterprise applications.
