Head of AI/Data Science, Finance & Strategy (AI)

Location: Menlo Park, California; in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.

Base pay: $247,000–$290,000 USD in Zone 1; $217,000–$255,000 USD in Zone 2; $193,000–$226,000 USD in Zone 3. Additional bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits are available.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the Finance & Strategy team of data scientists and analytics engineers while setting technical direction and priorities.
• Own the NPS program and broader survey and research portfolio, including sampling, weighting, data quality, driver analysis, executive reporting, sentiment studies, benchmarking, and voice-of-customer research.
• Analyze open-text and survey responses at scale using defensible methodologies and LLM-assisted classification.
• Partner with Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Research, Brokerage, and senior leadership to turn insights into product, policy, and strategic decisions.
• Design agentic workflows, reusable skills, context files, MCP integrations, evaluation harnesses, and guardrails for trustworthy finance- and research-grade outputs.
• Lead measurement, experimentation, modeling, pipelines, tooling, and data models while remaining hands-on in code and fostering technical excellence and accountability.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related fields, including 2+ years of people management experience.
• Daily hands-on fluency with Claude Code and modern AI coding tools, with experience building reusable agent infrastructure rather than one-off prompts.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, statistical analysis, experimentation, and advanced analytics.
• Experience developing measurement frameworks, predictive models, benchmarking, and analytical approaches for business and strategic decisions.
• Ability to translate complex business questions into rigorous analyses, actionable insights, and scalable data solutions.
• Strong business judgment and experience partnering with Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, and senior leadership.
• Excellent communication skills for simplifying complex analyses, influencing decisions, and building alignment.
• Experience building and developing high-performing teams of data scientists and analytics engineers.
• Leadership ability to set focused goals, give real-time feedback, hire and retain talent, create trust and inclusion, and address talent issues fairly.
