Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) (Biotechnology)

Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work environment.

What you will do

• Act as the primary financial business partner for Commercial, R&D, and G&A functions in Japan, providing financial perspectives and influencing business decisions.
• Lead annual budgets, latest estimates, monthly forecasts, and long-range planning, including high-accuracy models and base, upside, and downside revenue scenarios.
• Deliver variance analysis, identify financial risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions and investment decisions.
• Partner with Tech Ops, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Accounting on COGS, inventory levels, component cost variances, demand planning, and working-capital risk.
• Support timely monthly close, accruals, contract reviews, audit activities, procurement and AP controls, and maintenance of the SOX-compliant internal control environment.
• Lead or participate in finance process improvements and system enhancements while supporting the Head of Finance—Japan.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant FP&A experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred; MBA is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and experience partnering with Commercial or R&D functions.
• ERP systems experience is required.
• Experience developing executive-level presentations, reporting packages, and dashboards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, conciseness, critical thinking, and ability to work independently, multitask, and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and a dynamic, culturally diverse workplace while meeting timelines for monthly closes, reporting, forecasts, and ad hoc projects.
• Ability to demonstrate hirify.global’s core corporate competencies.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Japan’s Drug Price system and wholesaler inventory phasing.
• Oracle and Hyperion Planning experience.
• MBA.
