Software Engineer (Geoscience)

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand; office-based with work from the local office 3 or more days per week.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, document, refactor, release, and support moderately complex features for desktop geoscience software.
• Design components and interfaces, including integrations with the Evo cloud geoscience platform and cloud-service APIs.
• Work with scientific, spatial, and geological data while addressing functional, non-functional, security, and stakeholder requirements.
• Participate in release management, quality assurance, issue resolution, and release reporting.
• Improve engineering practices, contribute to innovation, and review the work of junior engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in relevant Software Engineering roles.
• Knowledge of Python.
• Experience with systems integration and APIs.
• Experience with data pipelines and schemas.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• A methodical approach to moderately complex problems, including planning to deadlines, sound judgement, escalation when necessary, and creative problem solving.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with commitment to security, privacy, and ethical practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.

• Experience with Rust.
