Security Operations Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid with in-office work required 4 days per week. The Security Operations Center operates 24/7, including weekend or staggered-hour shift rotations.

Base salary: $125,000–$145,000 per year, excluding bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Conduct deep-dive security investigations, threat hunting, and active incident response.
• Analyze logs and telemetry from diverse sources to identify anomalies and security threats.
• Investigate incidents using forensic tools and processes.
• Operate across SIEM, SOAR, and EDR platforms and apply security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
• Document findings clearly and communicate results while prioritizing multiple concurrent incidents.
• Participate in 24/7 SOC shift rotations, including weekends or staggered hours.

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven hands-on experience in security operations engineering, threat hunting, and incident response.
• Strong understanding of AWS and Azure security architectures, services, and associated threats.
• Expertise in security frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK, and common SIEM, SOAR, and EDR platforms.
• Advanced data analytics skills for analyzing logs and telemetry data from diverse sources.
• Familiarity with forensic tools and incident investigation processes.
• Strong documentation and communication skills for clearly conveying findings.
• Solid understanding of networking, operating systems, and log analysis.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, work independently, identify subtle anomalies, and prioritize multiple moving parts.
• Openness to 24/7 shift rotation, including weekends or staggered hours.

Nice to have

• Experience combating fraud targeting financial services organizations.
• Experience in an AI SOC setting and familiarity with AI agents.
• Engineering experience in systems or network administration, DevSecOps, or cloud infrastructure.
• Open-source contributions or published quality research.
• Certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, GCIA, GCFA, GCIH, or CISSP.
• Previous security team experience, particularly in fintech or a cloud-native environment.
