Senior Technical Writer (Identity and Access Management)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; remote work is indicated, but in-person office onboarding is required during the first week of employment.

What you will do

• Design, develop, edit, and deliver developer and administrator documentation for Okta products.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Design, QA, Support, and Information Development teams to ensure content quality and accuracy.
• Apply documentation guidelines and manage multiple projects supporting several engineering teams.
• Work with developers to review API documentation.
• Analyze customer feedback before and after publication to improve content depth, quality, and relevance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience writing technical documentation for cloud or enterprise products.
• Practical experience with topic-based writing and minimalism, with the ability to simplify complex tasks.
• Experience documenting SDKs, CLIs, REST APIs, developer tools, customer-facing content, and release notes.
• Experience with Markdown, code editors, and source-control tools such as Git and GitHub.
• Experience using Oxygen or similar DITA authoring tools.
• Experience using GenAI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT in the documentation lifecycle.
• Proven ability to write accurate, clear, and concise documentation for a global audience and to plan and prioritize deliverables with reasonable estimates.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Technical Writing.
• Ability to understand real-world applications of security products and produce use-case-based content.
• Experience streamlining or orchestrating technical writing workflows and content tasks with AI-assisted tools.
• Experience with Redocly or another API management and publishing platform.
• Ability to interpret and document code examples in JavaScript, Python, React, or Angular.
• Knowledge of Okta or similar identity and access management solutions.
