Engineering Manager (Renewable Energy)

Location: Twizel or Christchurch, New Zealand, with the ability and willingness to travel to and commute to the Waitaki Power Station.

What you will do

• Provide overall engineering leadership for the Waitaki Power Station upgrade as part of the core project leadership team.
• Coordinate Meridian’s engineering input and lead engineering resources across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Manage technical requirements, design intent, engineering decisions, assurance, governance, and engineering risks.
• Coordinate engineering interfaces with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Commercial Manager, operational teams, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and original equipment manufacturers.
• Support safe, reliable, high-performing, and maintainable long-term asset outcomes.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading engineering activities on large and complex infrastructure, power generation, or industrial projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating multiple technical workstreams.
• Experience driving team culture and coordinating engineering interfaces with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and OEMs.
• Strong understanding of engineering assurance, technical governance, and engineering risk management.
• Experience delivering brownfield projects within live operational environments.
• Broad understanding of mechanical, electrical, automation, and control systems and their integration.
• Strong understanding of constructability, operability, maintainability, and long-term asset performance requirements.
• Ability to manage complex technical issues while balancing safety, quality, operational, and delivery requirements.
• Ability and willingness to travel to the Waitaki Power Station is essential.
