Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, Waterloolaan, Brussels, Belgium. Willingness to travel and work with local and international clients is required.

What you will do

• Lead an internal team developing AI products and shape the future of Machine Learning Engineering expertise.
• Work as a subject-matter expert on multidisciplinary client projects with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and other business units.
• Make architectural and design decisions for cloud environments.
• Build production-level ML/AI solutions using solid software engineering practices.
• Guide Data Scientists in scaling models into production through parallelization, optimization, tuning, testing, and wrapping.
• Deliver training, lead internal meetings, organize external events, participate in client workshops, and communicate expertise through articles, conferences, and press releases.

Requirements

• MSc-level education in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience building production-quality ML/Deep Learning pipelines and models.
• Good understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and strong knowledge in a specific domain such as Computer Vision, Deep Learning, or NLP.
• Expert coding skills in Python and at least one of Scala, C++, or Java.
• Hands-on experience with database management languages such as SQL or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructures including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Unix-based command-line environments and DevOps tools including Git, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Databricks.
• Strong interest in data and AI topics, the ability to quickly build expertise, and enthuhirify.globalsm for applying these areas to client opportunities.
• Experience coaching or mentoring other engineers.
• Established technical expertise, strong project and time management, problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and collaborative teamwork skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English, French, and Dutch is required.
• Ability to work in Belgium without employer-provided work permit sponsorship.
