Staff DevOps Engineer (AI)

Location: Czechia; work from home or from Central Europe offices in Bratislava, Brno, or Prague.

Base salary: 1,520,000–1,900,000 CZK annually.

What you will do

• Design sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions, and robust production environments on Google Cloud.
• Own infrastructure designs and specifications, break initiatives into executable tasks, and review other designs.
• Lead projects spanning multiple engineering teams and coordinate engineers without direct reporting lines.
• Automate tools and infrastructure, reduce manual work, and develop core components such as logging or authorization when needed.
• Operate and optimize Kubernetes, databases, cloud components, application monitoring, availability, security, scalability, and costs.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and support engineering teams with infrastructure and performance reviews.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, public cloud, and Python or Go.
• Kubernetes expertise, including cluster operations, behind-the-scenes behavior, 24x7 production operation, upgrades without interrupting live applications, node pools, cluster features, versions, and autoscaling.
• Experience with GCP preferred, or AWS or Azure, including public-cloud risks and benefits, infrastructure as code, and decisions between managed and self-hosted solutions.
• Ability to read and understand code confidently, review AI-generated Python code for correctness, security, and fit, and develop custom tooling when needed.
• Ability to turn loosely defined problems into designs and specifications, write proposals, evaluate trade-offs, and review designs.
• Experience leading projects across multiple teams from scoping and planning through delivery, and independently driving maintenance or project work to completion.
• Hands-on experience configuring Kubernetes security contexts, network policies, roles and bindings, pod affinity, host paths, disruption budgets, priority classes, and node taints.
• Experience analyzing cluster resource usage and implementing or recommending resource requests and limits, HPAs, or VPAs.
• Experience writing Terraform modules with multiple interconnected resources, and working with DevOps, orchestration/configuration management, and CI technologies including Terraform, GitLab, Ansible, and Docker.
• Experience setting up monitoring and alerts; on-duty experience, Grafana, and Prometheus experience are preferred.
• Experience onboarding and training new team members.
• Active interest in Kubernetes and related technologies, including staying current through learning and participation in DevOps conferences.
