Tech Lead Manager, Core Apps Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid; New York City, NY, San Francisco, CA, or Seattle, WA. Staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time, and some roles may require more office time.

Annual salary: $380,000–$460,000 USD.

What you will do

• Partner with Core Apps product leads on product strategy, roadmap priorities, investment decisions, and major bets across Claude Code and other products.
• Set the Product Data Science agenda, prioritize high-impact opportunities, and manage and develop a small team of Product Data Scientists.
• Frame ambiguous business questions, size opportunities, and provide recommendations that influence senior leadership and cross-functional decisions.
• Define success metrics and measurement frameworks, and set standards for experimentation and causal inference across Core Apps.
• Lead high-stakes analyses and translate complex findings into clear narratives and recommendations.
• Establish foundational data practices and shape analytics infrastructure for rapid product iteration and decision-making.

Requirements

• Extensive data science experience, including leading analytics for a product area at significant scale.
• At least 3 years of experience managing data science teams, including setting team direction and developing senior data scientists.
• Experience partnering with senior product and business leaders, with examples of changing a roadmap or high-stakes decision.
• Strong product sense and business judgment, including framing the right questions and taking positions with incomplete information.
• Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling at high scale, with fluency in Python and SQL sufficient to remain hands-on and guide technical work.
• Clear written and presentation communication skills, including communication with executive audiences.
• Ability to act decisively and create clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Commitment to the mission of building helpful, honest, and harmless AI.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a field relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

• Experience with AI/ML products, large language models, or developer tools in the AI/ML ecosystem.
