Software Engineering Group Manager - Data, Automation, & AI Architecture

Location: In-office role based in Philadelphia, Columbus, Dallas, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Denver, United States.

Salary: Base salary of $146,300.00–$298,870.00 per year; incentive eligible.

What you will do

• Build, lead, mentor, and grow an AMG-aligned architecture team focused on data, automation, and AI.
• Define technology strategies, target-state and reference architectures, standards, reusable patterns, and delivery roadmaps.
• Guide data architecture across integration, data products, metadata, lineage, quality, governance, analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic solutions.
• Define automation architecture across workflow, orchestration, intelligent document processing, robotic process automation, APIs, events, low-code capabilities, and AI-assisted automation.
• Establish responsible AI architecture and governance covering human oversight, data protection, traceability, testing, monitoring, model risk, and regulatory compliance.
• Advise business and technology leaders, facilitate architecture reviews, evaluate platforms, and communicate decisions and roadmaps to executives, engineers, risk, legal, compliance, and cybersecurity stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry-relevant experience, at least 5 years of prior management experience, and proven leadership across a moderate to large scope of responsibility.
• University or college degree, typically a bachelor's degree; comparable education, certifications, and experience may be considered instead.
• Proven experience leading and developing architecture or senior engineering teams and building high-performing collaborative groups.
• Strong depth in data architecture and engineering, intelligent automation, AI/ML architecture, or solution/platform architecture, with practical breadth across the other domains.
• Experience creating data strategies, target-state architectures, integration patterns, data governance approaches, and analytics or AI enablement roadmaps.
• Experience evaluating enterprise products, tools, and platforms and translating evaluations into decisions, reference architectures, implementation guidance, and measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of Business, Application, Solution, Data, Technology, Integration, and Security Architecture.
• Working knowledge of data integration and analytics platforms, data catalogs and governance tools, AI/ML platforms, generative AI, workflow and automation platforms, APIs, middleware, event streaming, cloud services, and modern application architectures.
• Ability to create capability models, reference architectures, context diagrams, information flows, strategy maps, current- and future-state architectures, architecture decision records, and roadmaps; influence without direct authority and resolve ambiguity.
• Strong financial services knowledge and understanding of responsible AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, records management, model risk, third-party risk, and regulatory considerations.

Nice to have

• Experience in wealth management, asset management, investments, trust, brokerage, or related AMG domains.
• Professional certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe, AWS/Azure/GCP Data or AI certifications, data management credentials, or automation platform certifications.
