Data & AI Intern (Bioinformatics)

What you will do

• Collaborate with scientists, research associates, and laboratory teams on experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and troubleshooting.
• Design, develop, and run computational pipelines for NGS, genomic, and omics data analysis.
• Evaluate emerging technology platforms and assays for clinical test development.
• Apply AI-enabled research and structured problem framing to identify and prioritize data opportunities in solid organ transplant and cell therapy.
• Assess opportunities for data products, biopharma collaborations, and real-world evidence by evaluating unmet need, data feasibility, clinical and business value, and execution risk.
• Synthesize evidence into recommendations, decision frameworks, and pilot proposals, and present findings to scientific, product, medical, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics and computational genomics.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or another relevant programming language.
• Experience analyzing NGS data, including targeted sequencing, whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing, or RNA-seq.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, scripting, and version control tools such as Git.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to use AI tools and independent research to structure open-ended problems, test assumptions, and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience evaluating biotechnology, healthcare, or life-science opportunities and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud computing and database management.
• Prior venture, strategy, product, or company-building experience.
