First Line Operational Risk Officer (AI)

Location: The Hague, Netherlands; hybrid working.

Salary: €5,339–€7,119 per month based on 36 hours, depending on knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Embed first-line operational risk management into digital delivery and daily business activities.
• Support risk assessments, control design and testing, issue management, remediation, risk acceptance, and ongoing control monitoring.
• Improve continuous assurance through stronger risk and control evidence, reporting, monitoring, and appropriate automation.
• Advise and constructively challenge management and delivery teams while balancing customer value, delivery speed, and risk appetite.
• Apply lifecycle-based risk management to AI solutions from ideation and experimentation through build, testing, validation, deployment, monitoring, material change, and decommissioning.
• Support AI governance, accountability, decision rights, escalation paths, AI Policy implementation, Responsible AI principles, standards, controls, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Technology, or a related field.
• At least two years of hands-on Operational Risk experience, preferably in a comparable digital environment combining customer processes, IT, and AI or data-driven solutions.
• Experience with risk assessments, control design and testing, issue management, remediation, and risk acceptance.
• Knowledge of operational risk frameworks, governance, internal controls, and relevant regulatory requirements; knowledge of IT, cybersecurity, data, outsourcing, or third-party risk is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting audits, assurance reviews, or regulatory assessments and converting findings into sustainable improvements.
• Understanding of AI technologies and their opportunities, limitations, and risks, including model behaviour, data quality, automated decision-making, monitoring, and lifecycle governance.
• Experience collaborating with customer, product, IT, Data & AI, Security, Privacy, and second-line Risk or Compliance stakeholders.
• Strong analytical judgement and the ability to influence stakeholders with clarity, independence, and pragmatism.
• Proactive, delivery-oriented approach with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective while focusing on operational detail.
