Backend Java Engineer (Web3)

Location: Kazakhstan; 100% remote, work from home

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs for global products.
• Build high-performance, highly available, secure backend systems supporting BigPay Fiat business operations.
• Manage the full service lifecycle from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Develop tools and redesign capacity-planning infrastructure to improve scalability and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose software issues while ensuring data security and end-to-end system architecture.
• Collaborate with Kazakhstan banking parties, government relations, business partners, and other external stakeholders in Kazakh or Russian.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software development and architecture.
• Strong expertise in Java and backend frameworks such as Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, and microservices architecture.
• In-depth understanding of Linux and computer networks.
• Experience profiling, benchmarking, and optimizing ML applications.
• English and Kazakh or Russian language skills are required to coordinate with external Kazakhstan business partners and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Java code development experience, preferably as an Apache open-source project developer.
• Experience with high availability, high performance, and resource optimization.
