Principal Engineer

Location: Shanghai and Chengdu; hybrid office/WFH schedule

What you will do

• Ensure implementations are consistent with the overall engineering strategy while working with local and remote squad members.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to communicate tasks, challenges, and workflows across a globally distributed team.
• Contribute to the design and architecture of new tools and technologies while maintaining the existing stack.
• Guide engineering efforts toward successful sprint delivery and maintain high software quality through effective practices.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring and coaching.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as an individual contributor in full-stack web development.
• Advanced JavaScript and Node.js or Ruby on Rails skills, with 3+ years of experience with React or TypeScript.
• 2+ years of experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• 2+ years of experience with Agile software engineering methods and tools, including Scrum, Jira, GitHub, and DevOps.
• Understanding of requirements management and roadmap development with product managers.
• Effective collaboration across cross-functional teams, with experience building influence with Product and Design.
• Familiarity with AWS, architectural patterns, and their trade-offs.
• Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
• Ability to learn, understand, and dissect new technology stacks independently.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent training, education, and experience in information or cybersecurity, computer systems, IT, or a related area.

Nice to have

• Mobile and React Native experience.
