Robotics Intern, World Foundation Models (AI)

Location: Los Altos, California, United States; hybrid, in-office role

Pay range: $45–$65/hour for California-based roles

What you will do

• Conduct computer vision research addressing open theoretical and practical problems in robotics and evaluate solutions on real-world benchmarks and systems.
• Develop visual systems for robotics and contribute to research on video generation, world modeling, world-action models, 4D reconstruction, egocentric video learning, multimodal foundation models, multi-view geometry, and data augmentation.
• Use large-scale data from different sources and modalities to train foundation models for embodied applications and robot deployment in unstructured environments.
• Test research ideas in simulators and the real world, working across physical systems and robotics applications.
• Collaborate with research scientists and engineers across the World Foundation Models team, Robotics division, TRI, Toyota, and university partners.
• Present research results at international conferences, internally, and through open-source contributions.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
• Publication or desire to publish in high-impact conferences or journals on the listed research topics.
• Passion for large-scale machine learning and computer vision challenges grounded in physical systems, especially robotics.
• Proficiency in one or more coding languages and systems, preferably Python, Unix, and a deep learning framework such as PyTorch.
• Ability to collaborate with researchers and engineers to develop research ideas.
• Reliable teamwork, intellectual depth, ambition, and integrity.
• A Google Scholar link and a full list of publications must be included when submitting a CV.
