Hirify AI/Оригинал
TL;DR
Senior API Data Analyst (API analytics/observability): Building a company-wide operating view of API usage, cost, integration quality, and platform health with an accent on request-log analysis, rate-limit evidence, and automated checks. Focus on quantifying fan-out and concurrency risks, proposing defensible guardrails, and turning usage data into changes for API, gateway, product, and partnership teams.
Location: Cape Town
Company
hirify.global provides a commerce partnership marketing platform for discovering, managing, and scaling affiliate, influencer, content publisher, brand ambassador, and customer referral partnerships. Its Performance, Creator, and Advocate products support more than 5,000 global brands and over 225,000 partnerships.
What you will do
Build a continuous company-wide view of API usage, including request volume, date ranges, paging, concurrency, latency, row counts, and multi-account fan-out.
Run a weekly operating loop to identify misuse, bad integrations, traffic spikes, APIs that should be retired or capped, and alerts requiring triage.
Automate recurring analysis across request logs, data warehouses, and reporting tools, including AI-assisted triage where useful.
Translate usage and cost evidence into proposals for rate limits, date-range caps, concurrency limits, credential scopes, and synchronous, asynchronous, streaming, or bulk delivery patterns.
Partner with API owners, gateway and platform engineers, product, and partnership colleagues while keeping product decisions with the owning teams.
Develop integration playbooks, documentation, customer expectations, and company-level API health views that improve platform stability and client experience.
Requirements
Several years of experience in a role combining data analysis, platform or API observability, and operational triage; this is not a graduate or first-job role.
Experience analysing request logs and metrics using Elasticsearch, BigQuery, or a similar stack, including latency, row counts, paging, date ranges, and multi-account fan-out.
Statistics and mathematical skills sufficient to create rate proposals, spare-capacity estimates, and defensible ceilings, and to identify when a model is wrong.
Ability to build repeatable checks using Python, SQL, or similar technologies, including AI-assisted triage where appropriate.
Ability to read API-related code and collaborate with engineers on concrete changes without owning API implementations.
Experience running a weekly operating cadence in which analysis led to real changes, such as containing misuse, retiring or capping an API, or providing actionable metrics to a team.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, rate limiting, authentication, concurrency, and integration anti-patterns such as wide fan-out, unbounded date ranges, and unbounded replay.
Ability to make proportionate decisions and work across API-owning and gateway teams.
Ability to explain spikes, rate tables, and proposed ceilings clearly to engineering, product, and partnership colleagues and translate evidence into customer guidance.
Nice to have
Hands-on experience with API gateways, rate-limit buckets, and token scoping.
Familiarity with BigQuery, Looker, or similar data warehouses and analytical tools for traffic analytics.
Experience supporting large B2B or partner API programmes, including enterprise rate tiers and contractual usage limits.
Experience with query-cost or resource-based measures of API work for explaining platform cost and spare capacity.
Interest in APIs built for automated clients and how misuse patterns appear in those APIs.
