Principal Cost Engineer (Automotive Electronics)

Location: Offices in the EU, North America, or APAC, or full-time remote work with occasional travel to hirify.global locations; willing to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

What you will do

• Build cost models using internal and external databases to establish Design-to-Cost targets for components, modules, and assemblies used in hirify.global Automotive products.
• Define component-level best-practice cost references and analyze supplier quotations, cost breakdowns, and cost-influencing factors.
• Lead the technical definition and implementation of electronic system cost-modeling solutions and analytics for trend analysis.
• Develop technical relationships with suppliers to identify best-cost solutions and emerging technologies that improve costs.
• Work with Engineering and Product Sourcing during new business quoting to establish reference cost targets.
• Support Procurement during negotiations with target costing and lead cross-functional teams toward financial and transformational targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in cost engineering, value analysis/value engineering, design and development, or component engineering for electronic systems.
• Experience with complex components, modules, and assemblies.
• Technical leadership experience, including leading and reviewing the work of other cost engineers.
• Ability to solve complex technical topics through structured solutions, influence stakeholders, and align on technical solutions.
• Ability to break down component costs into constituent costs and present complex technical topics effectively.
• Experience in a fast-paced, highly measured, results-focused environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork, accountability, and experience leading cross-functional teams in a global organization.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience developing cost models for components, modules, and assemblies.
• Experience with automotive electronic systems, including selecting or recommending automotive-grade components.
• Ability to share knowledge and best practices with teammates.
• Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions.
