Senior Engineering Systems Administrator (Microsoft 365)

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support enterprise Microsoft 365 solutions across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and Entra ID.
• Lead architecture decisions for hybrid and cloud-first environments, including identity, access, authentication, and certificate-based access strategies.
• Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant, user lifecycle, licensing, service configuration, availability, performance, and service health.
• Implement security and compliance capabilities including Microsoft Defender, Purview, DLP, retention, eDiscovery, insider risk controls, sensitivity labels, encryption, and threat protection.
• Optimize collaboration and productivity tools, establish governance and external-sharing controls, and support Power Platform automation.
• Lead migrations and enterprise integrations, develop PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation, resolve complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and maintain policies, runbooks, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or IS, or equivalent practical experience; 10+ years of IT Systems Engineering experience is required.
• 10 years of Microsoft 365 administration and engineering experience.
• Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft 365 architecture, licensing, tenant management, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting identity and access management with Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, AD Connect, federation, SSO, Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust, RBAC, least privilege, and joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle management.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Purview, DLP, insider risk, eDiscovery, information protection, sensitivity labels, encryption, phishing, malware, Safe Links, and Safe Attachments.
• Expert knowledge of messaging and collaboration architecture, including mail routing, SMTP relays, hybrid Exchange, Teams telephony, external sharing, B2B collaboration, and governance strategies.
• Deep understanding of DNS, including MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC; certificates and TLS; firewalls, proxies, endpoints; latency; and service connectivity.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or IS, if not used to meet the required experience equivalency.
• Microsoft Certification.
• Awareness of ITIL.
