PhD Autonomy Engineer Intern (Deep Learning / Computer Vision)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; internship position

Compensation: $70/hr for PhD students; rates are $47/hr for undergraduates and $53/hr for master's students, with regional variation possible.

What you will do

• Architect and implement computer vision algorithms running on hirify.global drones.
• Own a research project that advances the capabilities of the autonomy team and products.
• Research, prototype, and assess the feasibility of new approaches for intelligent autonomous systems.
• Design and implement features that expand drone capabilities.
• Characterize and quantify the performance of core software and hardware components.
• Collaborate with core software developers and computer vision researchers to move algorithms into real products.

Requirements

• PhD student status and relevant research experience in autonomy, computer vision, deep learning, or a related area.
• High proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Strong foundation in mathematics, theory, and software development.
• Enthusiasm for one or more of the following areas: computer vision, deep learning, motion planning, dynamics and controls, 3D graphics, embedded software or firmware, distributed systems, tools or infrastructure, and mobile.
• Solid software engineering foundation and commitment to writing clean, well-architected code.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative small-team environment.
