Senior Applied Scientist (AI Model Training, Supervised/RL & Optimization)

Location: Remote, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Tel Aviv District, Israel

Building sovereign AI and national cyber-defense systems for governments, including secure critical-system infrastructure, national-scale information integration, and sensitive-data decision support.

What you will do

• Develop training and post-training methods using reinforcement learning, distillation, and automated optimization to improve model capability and efficiency.
• Design data mixtures, sampling strategies, and curricula, and investigate how data quality and composition affect performance.
• Run and debug large-scale training experiments, addressing convergence, stability, and compute efficiency.
• Adapt model architectures and learning methods to new tasks and modalities, including audio and speech understanding.
• Own projects from problem definition through experimentation and validation, using benchmarks, ablations, and reproducible results, and partner with engineering through deployment.
• Identify risks early, challenge ideas constructively, solve complex problems, and mentor fellow researchers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on AI/ML experience, owning multiple projects from problem definition to real-world impact; industry and military R&D backgrounds are valued.
• Deep expertise in model training, with hands-on experience in one or more of post-training, reinforcement learning, distillation, or predictive ML.
• An MSc or PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent demonstrated research accomplishments.
• Strong implementation skills in Python and PyTorch or JAX, including building and debugging large-scale training and evaluation pipelines.
• Deep understanding of model architectures and training dynamics, with the ability to diagnose failures and balance quality, stability, and efficiency.
• Experience with data mixing, curriculum design, experiment logging, and ablation studies.
• Independent ownership, empirical discipline, and clear judgment through complex training cycles and deployment constraints.

Nice to have

• Research experience in audio or speech.
