TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and integrating electrical systems for spacecraft propulsion electronics with an accent on mixed-signal hardware, power conversion, precision sensor acquisition, and embedded interfaces. Focus on developing flight-ready PCBs, validating low-to-high voltage subsystems, automating electrical tests with Python, and debugging hardware for harsh space environments.

Location: On-site in Burlingame, California, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or another protected-individual status is required for U.S. export-control compliance.

Salary: $140K–$185K annually, plus equity.

Company

hirify.global develops Pulsar low-Earth-orbit satellite infrastructure for precise, real-time global positioning and navigational intelligence.

What you will do

  • Design and integrate electrical subsystems for spacecraft propulsion electronics, including embedded microcontroller hardware, sensor interfaces, valve drivers, and power conversion.
  • Lead schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout from breadboard prototypes through flight hardware.
  • Design, tune, and validate DC/DC converters, driver stages, precision analog front-ends, and telemetry acquisition circuits.
  • Define hardware/firmware interfaces, peripheral mappings, register maps, and communication protocols with embedded firmware engineers.
  • Develop electrical test plans, Python automation, data logging, interface documentation, and test procedures.
  • Perform lab debugging and support assembly, integration, and environmental testing including TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience taking mixed-signal designs from schematics through manufacturing and lab bring-up.
  • Familiarity with electrical design and simulation tools such as Altium, KiCad, and SPICE.
  • Fundamental understanding of mixed-signal electronics, power-tree design, power conversion, signal integrity, and hardware reliability in harsh space environments.
  • Hands-on experience designing embedded microcontroller hardware and CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and RS-422 peripheral interfaces.
  • Experience designing driver circuits for inductive loads such as valves and solenoids, and closed-loop DC/DC converters.
  • Strong background in precision sensor acquisition and analog signal conditioning, including op-amps, filtering, and ADC/DAC interfacing.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing and debugging using oscilloscopes, dynamic loads, and power meters, plus Python test scripting.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to satellite systems, avionics, or electrical power systems.
  • High-voltage power electronics experience.
  • Experience with TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC testing under MIL-STD-461, and component derating standards such as NASA EEE-INST-002.
  • Experience developing hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
  • Familiarity with embedded C/C++ for firmware collaboration, low-level driver bring-up, and boundary-scan debugging.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time, on-site work within a hands-on and collaborative spacecraft development team.
  • Opportunity to work across propulsion, avionics, firmware, and power electronics subsystems.
  • Equity is included in the compensation package.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to equal consideration for qualified applicants.
