Security Developer Relations Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity; final compensation depends on interview performance, experience, skills specialization, and market rate.

What you will do

• Test models, agents, and AI tools against realistic enterprise workflows, identify data exposures, build reproductions, and evaluate security controls.
• Turn technical findings into videos, blog posts, demos, and other content for SOC and data security practitioners.
• Build, document, launch, and maintain open-source detections, scanners, labs, and utilities.
• Speak at security and engineering conferences, run hands-on workshops, and participate in podcasts, livestreams, and practitioner communities.
• Bring feedback from security practitioners into product and marketing work.
• Create resettable demo environments with synthetic data, scenarios, and documentation for sales engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in security engineering, detection engineering, incident response, insider risk/DLP, security research, or sales engineering.
• An established public voice in security, demonstrated through talks, podcasts, research write-ups, open-source projects, or a trusted practitioner following.
• Ability to code, work with APIs, and debug across unfamiliar systems.
• Understanding of how enterprise data moves across SaaS, endpoints, and AI tools, and how DLP, CASB, SIEM, and EDR controls work.
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly and defend them under questioning.
• Enjoyment of communicating with security practitioners and engineers on camera and in person.
• Ability to follow through on published software and content.

Nice to have

• Experience as a security advocate, evangelist, or DevRel professional at a security vendor.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, or MCP.
• SOC or data security operations experience.
