AWS Backend Senior Software Developer III (AI)

Location: Fully remote, located in Colombia; Bogotá or Medellín

What you will do

• Create architecture, prototypes, and design proposals aligned with product and platform roadmaps.
• Build and operate an AWS AgentCore Gateway layer supporting MCP targets, inbound access, agent-to-agent targets, and model routing.
• Develop tenant-isolated target registration, credential handling, allowlisting, egress control, quotas, and failure containment.
• Build MCP-based inbound interfaces with authentication, scope enforcement, and rate limiting.
• Implement persistent cloud-to-on-premise connectivity, session lifecycle management, request correlation, recovery, tracing, and SLOs.
• Lead technical discussions, RFCs, design reviews, documentation, mentoring, and AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with impact beyond a single team, plus a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing and operating distributed, cloud-native SaaS and multi-tenant platforms at scale, ideally on AWS.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles, and code quality practices.
• Experience with agentic-AI software development practices and AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs such as REST or GraphQL.
• Experience with MCP for LLM agents and with multi-tenant gateway or API platforms, including tenant isolation, credentials, quotas, and abuse protection.
• Experience integrating third-party or untrusted endpoints, authorization and scope propagation across multi-hop service boundaries, and persistent-connection or streaming architectures with session management, recovery, correlation, retries, backpressure, idempotency, and graceful degradation.
• Experience mentoring developers and influencing architecture across teams; strong written and verbal communication skills; initiative in improving processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality.
• High B2 English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Bedrock, AgentCore, or managed agent and LLM orchestration platforms.
• Experience with LLM provider routing, gateway patterns, multi-provider endpoints, model-based routing, or A2A protocols.
• Experience building developer- or partner-facing platform surfaces.
• Experience integrating cloud services with on-premise or embedded clients.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Experience operating systems in regulated or compliance-heavy domains.
