Senior Data Platform Engineer (GCP)

Location: Warszawa (Pańska 97), Poland; another location: Katowice (Zabrska 19), Poland

Salary: 9,600–22,000 PLN per month for a senior specialist position; 13,000–28,000 PLN per month for an expert position

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain ING’s VISTA Data Analytics Fallback Platform for critical analytical and reporting workloads.
• Develop and operate data processing, orchestration, storage, metadata-management, and analytical batch-processing capabilities using Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, Apache Iceberg, Trino, and object storage.
• Implement replication, synchronization, reconciliation, backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity mechanisms for critical datasets.
• Improve platform observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, operational readiness, and on-call support.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, recoverability, and operational resilience while contributing to architecture decisions, engineering standards, automation initiatives, and technical roadmaps.
• Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, and data engineering teams across ING.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas with practical knowledge of related technologies: Data Processing & Analytics with Apache Spark, DBT, Python, SQL, BigQuery, or Trino; Data Lake & Storage with Apache Iceberg, Hive Metastore, MinIO/S3-compatible Object Storage, or Google Cloud Storage; Platform & Infrastructure with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, Keycloak, Ceph, or Ingress/Networking; or Reliability & Operations with monitoring, logging, alerting, data replication, backup and restore, or disaster recovery.
• Experience building, operating, or supporting modern data platforms and distributed data processing environments.
• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Airflow-based orchestration platforms.
• Experience with Keycloak, Ceph, or enterprise-scale platform services.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity, or fallback solutions.
• Experience with modern lakehouse architectures based on Apache Iceberg.
• Experience with data replication and synchronization at scale.
• Experience migrating workloads between cloud and on-premise environments.
