Senior Consulting Systems Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Munich, Germany; hybrid setup with remote work from Germany. Frequent travel within Germany and occasional global travel to German automotive accounts is required.

What you will do

• Define end-to-end solutions and use cases for German and global automotive customers across production, supply chains, digital services, and connected vehicles.
• Shape automotive strategy by mapping industry trends, business drivers, and technical requirements to the data platform portfolio and partner ecosystem.
• Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, partners, alliances, global integrators, and sales teams through primarily face-to-face engagement.
• Develop total cost of ownership scenarios and commercial or financial models linked to customer challenges and measurable outcomes.
• Lead large IT projects, create presentations, papers, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and joint offerings, and guide sales teams in positioning and closing solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring, represent the company at industry and community events, and bring customer and market insights into product and go-to-market strategy.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as a technical solutions architect, consulting systems engineer, or client technical director working with strategic or large global accounts.
• Strong technical background across infrastructure and data, including storage, compute, databases, networking, virtualization, and/or cloud-native architectures.
• Solid experience with data management and storage technologies supporting mission-critical automotive and manufacturing workloads.
• Deep understanding of the automotive value chain, including OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, production plants, logistics, digital services, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with data and analytics, data science, modern IT architecture modeling, Agile, DevOps, automation, infrastructure as code, IT operations, and IT security.
• Ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on technical detail, structure complex problems into recommendations, and explain platforms and architectures in business-relevant language.
• Strong commercial and business acumen, including the ability to create value propositions, calculate total cost of ownership, and explain commercial and financial models.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including confidence with C-level executives, senior business leaders, developers, storage administrators, and technical teams.
• Native or bilingual German and business-fluent English are required. High emotional intelligence, empathy, diplomacy, and the ability to build trust are also required.
• Strong understanding of commercial and disruptive technology trends in German automotive and manufacturing markets, including software-defined vehicles, ADAS and AD, Industry 4.0, sustainability, data sovereignty, and AI.
• Willingness to spend at least 10% of working time on training, certifications, and industry or community events.
