Staff Software Engineer - Robotics Platform (Robotics)

High-growth Series A robotics startup developing Physical AI and autonomous retrofit systems for heavy construction machines.

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineers across teams to derive requirements and shape the robotics platform vision.
• Develop roadmaps aligned with business needs while managing conflicting timelines and requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain robotics platform components such as health monitoring and machine configuration management.
• Architect communication layers, node orchestration, lifecycle management, and APIs for off-machine systems.
• Monitor external dependencies, assess alternatives, contribute upstream to open source projects, and share robotics knowledge.
• Guide junior engineers and help grow the engineering culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Software Engineering, Robotics Development, or similar roles.
• Strong software engineering skills and experience with related tooling such as clangd, cargo, and pyrefly.
• Strong programming skills in a systems language such as C++ or Rust.
• Track record of leading high-impact projects across teams.
• Experience with middleware including iceoryx2, DDS, or AUTOSAR Adaptive, and IDLs including FlatBuffers or Protobuf.

Nice to have

• Python programming experience.
• Experience working on safety-critical systems and related software development processes.
• Experience developing a production-grade robotics system.
• Track record of open source contributions.
• Experience using Rust in a production environment.
