Senior Firmware Engineer (BIOS/UEFI)

Location: Hybrid, Taipei, Taiwan, with some in-office and/or in-person expectations.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and debug firmware and embedded system software interfacing with hirify.global storage operating systems.
• Enhance existing products and contribute to new product development based on customer, market, quality, cost, and time-to-market requirements.
• Develop platform firmware, UEFI BIOS, device drivers, networking components, and security modules.
• Debug firmware, operating systems, kernels, memory, and hardware using appropriate software and hardware tools.
• Read datasheets and schematics and develop drivers and ACPI code.
• Write design and functional specifications and contribute to effective teamwork and delivery under tight deadlines.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience; 8–9 years is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a master’s degree, a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience developing BIOS for ARM- or Intel-based server platforms.
• Experience with Intel x86, AMD x86, and ARM subsystems and peripherals including PCIe, SATA, USB, I2C, sensors, SPI, Flash, and DRAM.
• Experience with UEFI BIOS or GRUB, Linux secure boot, device drivers, networking stacks, and memory models on Intel or AMD x86 architectures.
• Experience with Linux/POSIX programming, embedded systems, build tools, kernel updates, and Windows and/or Linux kernel debugging.
• Experience developing Ethernet and FPGA drivers and security modules on Linux systems.
• Experience reading datasheets and schematics, developing drivers and ACPI code, and using hardware and memory debugging tools such as Arium, gdb, or Intel tools.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Shell programming; effective interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills in English; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Agile, and Scrum methodology.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AMI or Insyde BIOS.
• Hands-on hardware-firmware co-design experience.
• Board bring-up experience with SoCs and/or customer reference platforms.
