Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Boston, MA, US; the role is based in Boston and may require up to 10% travel for onboarding, client or partner work, team meetings, and industry events.

Base Pay Range for US locations: $148,000–$222,000 USD annually, plus potential bonus, equity, sign-on payments, and eligible benefits.

What you will do

• Build and evolve core ML and LLM platform architecture for training, inference, evaluation, monitoring, and production operations.
• Design and scale feature storage and real-time retrieval systems for training and inference datasets.
• Improve reliability, observability, operational excellence, and cost efficiency for large-scale ML workloads.
• Lead technical execution, architectural direction, code reviews, design reviews, and implementation of critical system paths.
• Partner with AI/ML application teams, product, infrastructure, security, and data science stakeholders to define platform workflows and roadmap.
• Mentor engineers and establish technical standards, design patterns, and best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, ML platform engineer, or in a similar role building backend or distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience designing and launching AI/ML systems in production at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python or a similar backend language such as Go, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and platform fundamentals, including AWS and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with data-intensive systems, including streaming or batch processing, data modeling, and large-scale data design; experience with Spark or Ray Data.
• Ability to collaborate with ML, product, infrastructure, and security partners.
• Strong communication skills and a track record of driving technical excellence across teams.
