Web Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Onsite in Paris, France, 5 days a week. Relocation to Paris is supported.

What you will do

• Build and own robust, scalable web platforms end to end in TypeScript, including APIs, services, data access layers, and user interfaces.
• Make architectural decisions and establish patterns for frontend, backend, and data systems.
• Design long-running workflows and background processes with Restate or a similar workflow orchestration system.
• Build reliable data pipelines between the warehouse, databases, and products, and model large datasets for fast querying and visualization.
• Render large volumes of geospatial data on interactive, performant web maps while applying privacy-aware design.
• Contribute to the roadmap, make product and engineering tradeoffs, and own the performance, monitoring, and reliability of shipped systems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience building SaaS products or data-heavy platforms.
• High proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, plus modern web frameworks such as React and Next.js.
• Strong experience with Postgres and data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar.
• Solid understanding of data modeling for analytics and visualization of large data volumes.
• Privacy-aware handling of sensitive data, including aggregation and anonymization.
• Ability to work autonomously across frontend and backend.
• Passion and experience building products; application materials should include products shipped.
• Ability to work onsite in Paris 5 days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow orchestration and long-running processes such as Restate or Temporal.
• Expertise in map rendering and geospatial data visualization with Mapbox GL, MapLibre, deck.gl, or similar tools.
• Experience with WebGL or GPU rendering.
• Experience collaborating with backend and data teams across a polyglot stack.
• Knowledge of infrastructure tools such as Bazel, GCP, or Kubernetes.
• Practical ability to use AI tools to drive complex changes, evaluate their output, identify subtle errors, and take responsibility for shipped code.
