Mid-Level Software Engineer (React/Node.js)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid, with onsite work required on Tuesday and Wednesday

Salary: HUF 1.4M–HUF 1.8M per month

What you will do

• Contribute to production features across the full stack using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Postgres.
• Build clean, accessible user interfaces with WCAG awareness and connect them to reliable backend APIs.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code across unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and participate in peer reviews.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and designers to break down problems and deliver user features.
• Support service health through logging, metrics, and incident troubleshooting.
• Apply modern software engineering practices while continuously learning in an agile environment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with modern web development in frontend, backend, or full-stack engineering.
• Strong motivation and curiosity to work across frontend React and backend Node.js/TypeScript environments.
• Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies, frameworks, and domain concepts quickly.
• Foundational knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Product-oriented mindset with attention to user experience, code quality, and reliable delivery.
• Good communication skills and an open, collaborative approach to teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
• Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, or AWS.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, GraphQL, or database ORMs/query builders.
• Prior experience in edtech or with Learning Management Systems.
• Understanding of basic web security principles, including OWASP and OAuth/OIDC.
