What you will do

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs and support project estimates under the supervision of a technical lead.
• Prepare CAD drawings and other project documentation.
• Provide design engineering support to project technical leads.
• Complete assigned work within timelines and budgets while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Maintain expertise in SEL and industry design practices, equipment, and solutions for electric power system protection and automation.
• Assist and mentor drafters, apply available processes and tools, provide process improvement feedback, and follow SEL values and manufacturing principles.

Requirements

• Associate degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience for each academic year.
• More than three years of relevant experience with high-voltage electrical design, including several projects involving protective relay control systems.
• Ability to learn product concepts and technical details, acquire new skills, and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work with moderate technical supervision and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Demonstrated competency in CAD drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Acceptable understanding of installation requirements for protective relays of different types and functions.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, plus the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Satisfactory background check results and negative drug test results.

Nice to have

• BSEE, BSET, or a related design degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience testing and commissioning protective relay, process control, and SCADA control systems.
• Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience.
• Knowledge of protective relay and/or automation applications.
