Remote PHP/Laravel Developer

Location: 100% remote; applicants are welcomed from around the world. Required working hours are similar to the hirify.global team schedule, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Starting base pay for candidates in California, New York, Washington, and Colorado: $17–$35 per hour. Compensation may vary by experience, qualifications, skills test performance, geographic location, and seniority; candidates outside these states may fall outside the listed range.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and optimize custom PHP and Laravel websites and web applications.
• Convert PSD designs into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages and resolve cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs with JSON responses, authentication, and versioning.
• Integrate data across Sage, QuickBooks, WordPress, Salesforce, APIs, ERP, and stock management systems.
• Work daily with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, WordPress, Laravel, Magento 1/2, LEMP, and Git or SVN.
• Support multiple projects and tasks while maintaining quality, accuracy, and documentation.

Requirements

• Expertise in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, and CSS3, plus strong Laravel development experience or confidence working with Laravel-based projects.
• Ability to convert PSDs into Laravel and custom PHP websites and work in a LEMP development environment.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, MVC architecture, object-oriented programming, Eloquent ORM, Blade, routing, middleware, and Composer.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs, including JSON responses, versioning, and authentication.
• Database design experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including migrations, query optimization, and relationships.
• Awareness of web security best practices, including SQL injection, XSS, CSRF mitigation, and secure authentication.
• Strong testing mindset with unit and feature testing using PHPUnit or Pest.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate technical concepts professionally, maintain strong attention to detail, and work in an organized manner.
• Excellent written and spoken English, adaptability to a diverse multicultural remote environment, and a positive attitude toward building and growing in a startup-style environment.
• Ability to work 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time and maintain a reliable remote workstation with a fast computer, microphone, speakers, internet, and power.

Nice to have

• Portfolio with live links to previously developed websites or web applications.
• Laravel experience, WordPress experience, and Magento 1/2 experience.
• Modern frontend collaboration experience with Vue, React, or the TALL stack, including Tailwind, Alpine, and Livewire.
• Deployment experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud hosting platforms such as AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean.
• Experience with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, WordPress, Laravel, Magento, APIs, and ERP integrations.
