TL;DR
Associate Scientist, Post Doc Fellow- Immunology Analytics (Single-Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics): Building cellular and spatial atlases of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases by analyzing large-scale single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, and multi-omics datasets with an accent on computational biology, immunology, and translational medicine. Focus on integrating multimodal data, identifying disease mechanisms and biomarkers, and developing scalable analytical methods for therapeutic discovery and patient stratification.

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America. Full-time onsite role; flexible work arrangements are not applicable. Domestic relocation is listed as available, and visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $82,000–$92,000 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive if applicable.

Company

hirify.global offers this postdoctoral research opportunity within cross-functional teams spanning computational biology, immunology, translational medicine, drug discovery, Data, AI and Genome Sciences, Immunology Discovery, and Translational Medicine.

What you will do

  • Build cellular atlases of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases using single-cell transcriptomic data from diseased and comparator human tissues.
  • Analyze spatial transcriptomics datasets to define tissue niches, cellular neighborhoods, multicellular interactions, and disease-associated microenvironments.
  • Integrate single-cell, spatial, transcriptomic, proteomic, clinical, and other multimodal datasets to develop disease-mechanism and translational biology models.
  • Evaluate target expression, pathway activity, biomarkers, disease endotypes, therapeutic response, and patient-stratification signatures.
  • Develop scalable computational methods and reusable resources for data integration, annotation, interpretation, and spatial analysis.
  • Collaborate with immunologists, translational scientists, clinicians, and computational researchers; lead publication-quality analyses, manuscripts, and scientific presentations.

Requirements

  • Currently hold a PhD or receive a PhD no later than spring 2027 in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python.
  • Experience analyzing large-scale genomics or multi-omics datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with GPU computing, HPC clusters, and AWS cloud environments for large-scale single-cell and spatial omics analyses.
  • Ability to develop and optimize scalable computational pipelines for scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and multimodal biological data.
  • Demonstrated publication record in computational biology, genomics, immunology, or related fields.
  • Strong scientific communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with single-cell omics workflows such as Seurat, Scanpy, scVI, CellChat, MultiNicheNet, or related tools.
  • Experience with Xenium, CosMx, Visium, MERFISH, or related spatial transcriptomics technologies.
  • Background in immunology, inflammatory diseases, tissue biology, or translational research.
  • Experience with machine learning, network analysis, systems biology, or multimodal data integration.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing and high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience working with large-scale human cohort datasets.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mentorship from experts in computational biology, immunology, translational medicine, and drug discovery.
  • Opportunities to publish first-author manuscripts and present at major international scientific conferences.
  • Development of expertise in single-cell, spatial, and multi-omics technologies.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration across academia and industry.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and other insurance benefits for employees and families.
  • Retirement benefits including 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, compassionate and sick days.
