Associate Fire Protection Engineer (Fire Protection Engineering)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; opportunities are also available in Allen, Texas, United States. Office-based role.

What you will do

• Perform life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering design under the direction of a P.E. or experienced consultant.
• Develop plans, specifications, inspection reports, and other technical documentation in accordance with professional service standards.
• Assist with field investigations, inspections, detailed design work, design-computation checking, and coordination of project design aspects.
• Conduct and document building code, egress, fire detection and alarm, smoke control, sprinkler, and water supply system reviews, including hydraulic calculations.
• Apply engineering calculations related to building area, means of egress, sprinkler water supplies, and smoke control equipment.
• Submit progress reports to Project Managers and Project Leaders; prepare CADD documents when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or another related engineering field.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, and procedure manuals and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
• Passion for advancing the science of safety and exceeding client expectations.
