Technical Writer (12 month FTC)

Location: Southampton, UK. Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office; during designated remote-first periods, remote work is available anywhere in the UK and from certain locations abroad.

Salary: £42,000–£55,000 per year, plus an additional 10% of salary awarded annually in shares.

What you will do

• Translate complex technical information for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Produce Software User Guides and API Documentation using Adobe Framemaker.
• Author release notes, training documents, feature guides, and user guides with developers and testers.
• Create engaging tutorial videos and explore effective ways to communicate information internally and externally.
• Test new development releases as part of Quality Control and build deep product expertise across Fleetware.
• Collaborate with development teams, business squads, testers, support, customer relationship management, and clients.

Requirements

• Experience translating complex technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience producing software user guides and API documentation using Adobe Framemaker.
• Ability to author release notes, training documents, feature guides, and user guides.
• Curiosity about how products work and creative flair for technical communications and tutorial videos.
• Ability to support Quality Control by testing new development releases.
• Ability to collaborate with developers, testers, business teams, and clients and attend relevant meetings.

Nice to have

• Experience using Jira and Confluence to collaborate with developers and testers and track release documentation.
