Senior II Engineer - Commercial Technology (Salesforce)

What you will do

• Own the technical direction and architecture for the Marketing & Commercial Data engineering capability.
• Guide significant technical decisions and establish engineering standards for secure, resilient, scalable, maintainable, and sustainable systems.
• Lead the transition from Bloomreach, Marketo, and legacy Salesforce Marketing Cloud platforms toward Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next, Data 360, and the wider Salesforce ecosystem.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentor engineers, and promote testing, automation, observability, security, documentation, and sustainable software development.
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Product, Programme, Data, business stakeholders, Technical Leads, architects, and external technology partners on roadmaps, dependencies, risks, and delivery.
• Support operational readiness, incident response, technical health, technical debt management, and continuous platform improvement.

Requirements

• Experience managing, leading, or designing a Customer Data Platform, ideally using Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next and Data 360.
• Significant software engineering experience with complex production systems, platforms, or enterprise technology.
• Experience providing technical leadership across engineering teams or significant technology capabilities.
• Strong architectural and engineering judgement, including experience making and guiding significant technical decisions.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices and designing secure, resilient, scalable, and maintainable systems.
• Experience managing technical debt, architectural risk, technology lifecycle concerns, and cross-system dependencies.
• Experience solving complex technical problems with engineers while enabling ownership and expertise development.
• Experience balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term architecture, engineering quality, and technical investment.
• Strong understanding of operational excellence, observability, reliability, production engineering, stakeholder communication, cross-team influence, and technical change.

Nice to have

• Experience leading technical change across significant platform or technology transformations.
• Experience with Salesforce, marketing technology, customer data platforms, enterprise SaaS ecosystems, or complex integration architectures.
